Instructor Training
Lay Responder First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor Course Print E-mail

Students who complete the course will be able to teach American Red Course classes in First Aid, CPR and Automated External Defibrillation (AED). The First Aid/CPR/AED program is intended to be taught in the Workplace and/or to the general public.

First Aid/CPR/AED Instructors can teach the following:
· Adult, Child and Infant CPR and AED
· Standard First Aid
· Injury-control modules
· Sports Safety Training
· Basic Aid Training (Youth Course)

 
How to Become a Lifeguarding Instructor Print E-mail

Lifeguarding Instructors are an important part of aquatic safety in a community. Interested candidates will need to be able to show passing competency in all Lifeguard Training basic skills before entering the class. The class is about 36 hours in length and is offered in the summer months in Rochester. Check out the Training Schedule for class offerings.

Required Lifeguarding Instructor Update
Working with our customers and other experts in the aquatics field and additionally due to the fact the there have been ECC 2005 CPR and First Aid Guideline changes, the Red Cross is excited to announce the release of the New Lifeguarding Program. This new program is a comprehensive training program providing flexibility, plus the latest in emergency training.

Instructors must buy their own copy of all the following from the Chapter:

  • Lifeguarding Manual ($34.99)
  • Lifeguarding Instructor Manual with CD-ROM ($32.99)
  • Lifeguard Management Manual with CD-ROM ($26.99)


Contact the chapter office at 507-287-2200 to register for the On-line Update. Once registered on instructor corner www.instructorscorner.org , log in and click on "Instructor Update" to access the Lifeguarding Instructor Update Online. All sections and videos segments must be completed. Return a completed Orientation Verification form to the Southeast Minnesota Chapter. The chapter will then issue a new Lifeguarding Instructor (r.06) certificate.

How to Become a Water Safety Instructor Print E-mail

Water Safety Instructors are in high demand and it is a great part-time job for people of all ages. The Red Cross has updated the WSI course which is about 30 hours in length. Check out the training schedule for the next class offering.

 
How to Become a Sailing Instructor Print E-mail
The Red Cross Sailing classes are taught by volunteer instructors. Sailing instructor classes are offered in St. Paul, MN in the Spring and in Rochester in August. Contact the Red Cross office for more information at (507) 287-2200.
