In an instant, your life could change forever . . .
Every week, a home in our area is ravaged by fire. In the shock and confusion that follows, the Red Cross is there, helping to rebuild lives. The Red Cross provides disaster relief, training, and education to residents throughout Dodge, Fillmore, Olmsted and Wabasha counties on a daily basis.
In fiscal year 2006/2007 volunteers responded to 61 incidents and assisted 65 families in our four county area. These included single family disasters (mainly house fires) and other local events, such as flooding. Community disaster education was provided to 3,863 individuals to help them better prepare, prevent, and be Red Cross ready for a disaster.
The Red Cross is not a government agency and depends on the generosity of local businesses and individuals, as well as support from the United Way, to provide vital assistance to local disaster victims. |
